Sant Martí cave

Sant Martí cave is located in Sant Martí hill, at about 5 km. from Alcúdia, on the left side of the road leading to Inca. It is supposed that it was used as a worship place by the first christians from the Roman city of Pol·lèntia. The first documented data appeared in 1268. Visitors can get inside after going up a stairway of two sets of steps on a 12 metres high slope. Inside, there is an old well and two medieval altars consecrated to Saint Martí and Saint Jordi. These two altars are cross-vaulted chapels. The one on the right hand is more modern, dated from 1632, and it has a stone altar, where Saint Jordi (St George) is shown killing the dragon.
