Son Carrió

Son Carrió is a small hamlet which has grown around the estate of the same name which was established in 1860. The most outstanding building is the Church of Sant Miquel, which takes its inspiration from the Romanesque style, with a large rose window in the façade, which, according to local legend, was designed by the distinguished architect Antoni Gaudí.

Leaving the village in the direction of the coast, we find Ca n´Apol·lonia; this old house, which is a fine example of traditional Mallorcan architecture, has been renovated by the council and turned into a cultural centre.

A good reason for stopping off in Son Carrió is provided by the two bakeries, which make some of the best ensaïmades (spiral-shaped puff pastries) on Mallorca.
